(John 20:31) “… but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

In writing these words John explains for us his reason for writing this gospel. Throughout the gospel John presents the greatness of Christ who is the eternal creator-God of the universe. He is also the One who has provided, for us, a way back into relationship with the Father. John is less interested in the facts of Jesus’ life but rather wants us to understand the meaning of Jesus’ message and presents Him as the awaited Messiah who had come to do the work of God the Father.

Our desire in studying this book is to gain a greater understanding of who Jesus is and why He came. When we have a bigger vision of who Jesus is this will affect our passion for, and worship of, the Saviour.
