For all your readers out there ....... one of the things that we as Pastors are always trying to encourage the folk at SGCM to do is READ! We regularly encourage our folk to buy books and to begin to build a small library of their own. The most important book we believe Christians should be reading regularly and getting familiar with is their Bible. At SGCM we recommend our members read the ESV translation of the Bible and we will explain in either a future blog post or an article why we think this is the best translation. However, God has also graciously provided many other books that enable us to understand more about the God we worship, the Saviour we love and the Spirit who empowers us. On this page and in the different category sections we will be recommending different books that have served us and our faith and ministries. Whilst we believe these books will be of help we may not necessarily endorse or believe all that is written in these books. We have recommended just a few books to help you train your children from a biblical perspective; that will challenge all the husbands and wives out there to lead and serve in a way that glorifies God. We have also recommended a book that we try to send out to many of our visitors and guests - C J Mahaney's 'Living the Cross Centred Life'. For us there is no aspect of Christianity more significant than the cross of Jesus Christ. We believe it is the most important event in all history; that all roads lead to it and all roads diverge from it. As many different people have stated we never move on from the cross we only ever move into a deeper understanding of it. So many of the books we recommend will have the cross/gospel right at their heart and will inform our actions, our thinking and behavior in light of the good news of Jesus Christ and how he has changed us.
